You can’t assume that because you have a lot of smart people in your company it will automatically become the next Idea Factory. You need a built in, officially articulated plan to be constantly creating, testing, refining and implementing ideas. This requires daily meetings on the subject, and the involvement of everyone from frontline workers to top management. Creating a culture of innovation requires a policy of innovation. Daily meetings between top management and workers is a good start, as are bonuses and incentives based on implementation of innovation initiatives. In short, everyone in the company should be aware of and able to contribute to the top management’s innovation agenda. This requires the kind of transparency and feedback rarely found in the corporate structure.
