Donald Trump is known for his awkward hair, his TV show The Apprentice, and his strong public opinions.
Could he be the next US president?
We live in a society where the majority of people are using social network sites like Facebook and Twitter to express themselves on a moment-by-moment basis. Donald Trump, the business magnate, investor, TV personality and author, utilizes Twitter to share his strong opinions daily with almost 2.5 million followers. People feel they know him, even if they’ve never met him in person.
Trump has been hinting at the idea of running for president of the United States for some time. Some see him as an egomaniac, while others see him as someone genuinely concerned with the problems facing America. He is a controversial, polarizing American figure—people either love him or hate him. He says what he thinks, and doesn’t apologize for his beliefs.
In today’s media age, a person has to stand out from the crowd—they can’t be too “middle-of-the-road” if they want to make an impact and get people’s attention.
Being on TV truly helps build name recognition. Trump’s TV shows, The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice, have entertained millions of people during the past decade. Having a consistent presence on TV could truly help Trump win the presidency. If he had just stayed a real estate investor in New York, out of the limelight, no one would think twice about him. But, because he’s on TV, often, and utilizes things like Twitter, he has become someone people look up to. He could possibly be the next US president.
